Your role as a Community Development Agent

Work with Cohesia’s team of professionals to identify the needs of Canada’s diverse communities by conducting research and assessments that will lead to a better understanding of the cultures, challenges and aspirations of individuals and their communities. This work will contribute to the development and planning of new Cohesia initiatives and programs designed to help them thrive.

Specific Responsabilities:

1. Social and Community Research

Initiates and conducts research related to the development of visible minority communities:

  • Conducts updates to Cohesia’s database management information and data collection obtained from city departments, various government agencies, elected officials, community organizations, academic research and the general public.
  • Investigates demographic, socio-economic, and environmental factors that impact development and growth.
  • Further develop Cohesia’s database on Aboriginal populations, racialized communities, religious minorities and other marginalized groups.

 

2. Document existing resources and programs

Document federal, provincial and municipal resources and programs that provide support to individuals, families, groups and communities for easy reference, including web links, and identify any gaps in support programs.

Update and document the database listing of community groups, contacts, including Aboriginal elders, support groups and government stakeholders to provide a comprehensive directory to identify minority communities and their support resources, thereby better understanding the extent of their service needs.

 

3. Individual, Group and Intergroup Advice

Consult and solicit input from individuals, citizen groups, special interest groups, community groups and the public to better understand their needs and to obtain opinions and recommendations on how to address social issues, concerns of marginalized groups and provide ideas on acceptable intervention processes that would lead to positive change.

 

4. Recommendations for new programs

Develop a comprehensive understanding of racialized communities at the individual and community level and their available resources and participate in the drafting of recommendations that will become Cohesia’s business information reference point for our business model, guidelines and best practices, business plan, budget, community programs and initiatives and service delivery standards.

 

5. Building relationships with racialized and marginalized groups

Build and maintain excellent business relationships with racialized communities and their stakeholders so that their trust in Cohesia continues to grow.

Your role as a Social Media Community Manager

Develop and oversee Cohesia’s social media communications strategy by directing all its components in a way that adds inspiration, motivation, and clarity to our messages, helps our stakeholders create harmony, and promotes social cohesion.

Specific Responsabilities:

1. Brand Identity

Support Cohesia’s brand identity through the use of engaging and interesting content and the application of good visual design in social media strategies, media and key messages.

2. Social Media Communication

Monitor daily communication, manage social media accounts, and adjust communications by researching audience preferences, analyzing social media posts, creating engaging text, image, and video content, and agreeing on content and responses across various social channels to sustain reader and viewer curiosity and create interest.

3. Establish a Tik Tok strategy

Create an account for Cohesia that ties in with Cohesia’s brand identity to expand the audience and share video content on various platforms (e.g. Instagram Real).

4. Engage stakeholders

Participate in stakeholder engagement efforts by initiating contact with stakeholders online, creating discussion forums, listening carefully to positions and recommendations, and developing an appropriate conversation strategy and managing web, email, MailChimp distribution list, and communications to support the brand and build trust.

5. Build relationships

Enhance the quality of stakeholder relationships by engaging with the audience across all channels, learning about pain points and concerns, and informing, educating, and explaining our organizational positions in a smart, respectful, and timely manner so that we can continue to build relationships and a strong reputation.

6. Website Content

Help manage website (WordPress) content by reviewing, generating, editing, adding, and publishing relevant, original, high-quality web documents and posts.

Your role as a Program Manager

Based on the new 2023-2028 strategic plan and business plan, provide support, research, and planning to align strategic directions with programs and initiatives that will meet the desired social impact across Canada.

Specific Responsabilities:

1. Planning and Coordination

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of Cohesia’s major programs and initiatives, including ensuring logistics, fundraising (financial and in-kind partners), budgeting, and community outreach.
  • Identify funding sources to develop our programs and assist with fundraising requests.
  • Support our subject matter experts to strengthen our programs and initiatives.

2. Program Development

  • Assist in the development of strategy for expansion of current or new programs, as well as the development and implementation of future programs that align with Cohesia’s mission and strategic and business plan.

3. Marketing and Communications

  • Work with the Marketing and Communications team to effectively promote Cohesia’s programs and initiatives and their achievements and results.
  • Ensure effective and ongoing communication between program and initiative participants, partners, stakeholders and experts.

4. Measuring impact

  • Ensure that Cohesia’s programs and initiatives are meeting their intended objectives and achievements, including volunteer hours completed, in-kind contributions, number of volunteers, in-kind contributions, and quantification of social impact generated for each program and initiative.
  • Prepare reports that demonstrate the accomplishments and tangible results of each program and initiative.
  • Provide support to ongoing research initiatives.

French Speaking Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility & Antiracism Training Facilitator

Job Type: Part-time (contract)

Through our research, state-of-the-art human resource tools and events, we create awareness, dialogue and action so that everyone in Canada can feel heard, valued and that they belong across the country both personally and professionally.

Your role:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate French Speaking Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility & Antiracism Training Facilitator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering engaging and interactive training sessions in French, specifically focused on EDIAA.  

The EDIAR Facilitators will facilitate learning sessions in a variety of formats including recorded, virtually, and onsite/in person. The successful candidate will help organisations understand our training approach and work together to create contextual and impactful learning opportunities for their staff to build their skills around a host of core EDIAR topics – from Accessibility to Anti-Racism. They will also develop highly tailored and engaging instructional content with adaptive learning methodologies. 

Responsabilities:
  • Develop and deliver customized EDIAA training sessions to meet the needs of individual learners in French. 
  • Engage and motivate learners to achieve their EDIAA learning goals. 
  • Use a variety of instructional methods to deliver content effectively and efficiently. 
  • Collaborate with the training team to continuously improve EDIAA training programs.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to learners to ensure successful EDIAA outcomes. 
Requirements for this role:
  • Fluency in French, both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering effective EDIAA training sessions in French.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with various training methodologies and tools.
  • Passion for learning and development.
